New Year, New Start

I know I haven’t been keeping up with this blog at all since I started it. Even though no one reads it but me, I still want to keep up with it.

So, I’m going to be doing things a little differently in 2014.

Instead of making this a general blog where I write about things I like, I’m going to make it a blog about my New Year’s Resolutions because I really want to keep them – and I want to start writing more. So this is basically killing two birds with one stone, you know?

Every year, I make general resolutions about losing weight, going to the gym and getting skinny. They never work and I never keep up with them. So this year, I decided to make a more concrete list of things that I think will improve my life and me as a person. I really want to keep up with them and I’m hoping that blogging about it will give me more motivation and will help keep me on track. I’m sick of just going to work and hanging out with my boyfriend and sometimes my friends and being lazy the rest of the time. I want to do things that will improve my life and make me feel better about myself. So, here they are:

For my mind/self:

  • Read at least one book every month. Try for two.
  • Actually read my monthly magazines the month I get them.
  • Keep my room clean – or at least a little clean.
  • Keep better track of the money I spend and save more.
  • Travel as much as I can, try to go to at least three new places this year.
  • Do one new thing every day.

For my body:

  • Go to the gym three times a week for at least 20 minutes.
  • Eat better and healthier for my stomach issues.
  • Drink more water – three water bottles during work, one at night before bed, no exceptions.
  • Start taking acidophilis every day.
  • Wash my face before bed every night.

I really want to use this blog as a place where I keep track of what I’m spending my money on, an exercise log, a place to put healthy recipes I like, a travel log, a review of the books I read and mainly to write about the one new thing I do every day. Whether it’s reading something new, eating something new, trying a new face mask, getting lunch somewhere different, going somewhere new or trying something I’ve never done, I want to do something new every day. I’m sick of the same old routine. I need to branch out!

So, here goes. I’ll start writing in 2014, after I go on vacation to New Hampshire. Once I get home from there, I always feel like I have a fresh start where I can really try to do new things. I’m excited about these resolutions. I really think they can improve me! Hopefully, this works. 🙂

Cute And… Not So Cute: Best and Worst Dressed Of The 2013 Teen Choice Awards

Truthfully, I did not watch the Teen Choice Awards last night. I know, I should have. I write for a teen girl website (hi, Gurl!). Watching awards shows is part of my job. But, guys, I just didn’t have it in me. Awards show season ended months ago with the Oscars, but it feels like it just ended yesterday and it was exhausting. I couldn’t handle another red carpet, another round of slightly weird/cocky speeches and basically three hours of boredom. So instead, I went out to dinner to get lobster with my boyfriend, brother and sister and then settled down to watch old episodes of The Sopranos with said boyfriend. Sounds much better than the TCAs, doesn’t it? Yes, it does.

Anyway, I obviously missed a relatively interesting red carpet. I actually enjoy the red carpet for less serious awards shows like these, because it allows the celebrities in attendance to be a little more casual and, thus, a little more fun and wacky. So, although I didn’t get to see any of these celebs in action last night, I did get to enjoy checking out their outfits online this morning. And, let’s be honest, critiquing those outfits is more fun than actually watching the show.

Here are my picks for Best and Worst Dressed. Check it out!

Obsession Of The Day: The Wolf Of Wall Street Trailer

Have you watched the trailer for The Wolf Of Wall Street yet? No? What have you been doing all day? Just wondering.

This trailer has literally been the highlight of my day. I wish I were joking, because thinking about it, it’s a little sad that a movie trailer has been the best thing to happen to me today, but what can you do? But actually, I’m not even going to apologize. This movie features my favorite actor (besides Ryan Gosling), Leonardo DiCaprio. I jump to see any movie that Leo stars in. In my opinion, he’s an incredible actor who brings every role he’s in to life in the best possible way. His films are some of my favorite films of all time and I have wanted to jump his bones since I was in middle school, before I even knew what it meant to jump someone’s bones.

I’m also excited because Martin Scorsese is one of my favorite directors and the combination of him and Leo is unstoppable. I can’t wait to see Jonah Hill in action in yet another more serious role, because as horrible as he came off in this Rolling Stone interview, he was also pretty great to watch in Moneyball.

And besides the fact that I love the actors and director involved in the making of this movie, I also just think it looks awesome. The trailer has Leonardo DiCaprio throwing money everywhere, throwing orange juice in a bush and dancing in a way we’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Leo dance. The film looks both funny and fun, but knowing Martin Scorsese, there will be a dramatic and surprising twist, plus a good amount of violence.

Have I convinced you to watch the trailer yet? Countdown to November starts now.

Are you excited for The Wolf Of Wall Street? Let me know what you think!

Things I Get From Work: Adidas BOOST™ Sneakers

Fact: Adidas loves me. I don’t know why, but I don’t hate it, so I’m not going to question it. For the past year and a half or so, the company has been regularly sending me amazing items that I can’t get enough of. I have enough sneakers to last me until I’m 50-years-old. It is not something I will ever complain about.

About two weeks ago, I got yet another Adidas package delivered to my desk. This one didn’t have quite as fancy packaging as the last two things I had received, but I was still excited to see what was inside.

Movie Review: Oz The Great And Powerful

Thanks to my amazing job, I was able to attend an advanced screening of Oz The Great and Powerful this week. Since none of my friends asked how it was (rude), I figured I’d give it a little review here. PS: I’m not a movie critic. I just love movies and I’m easy to please when it comes to them.
